Lima, Peru –Police in Peru have arrested four members of a gang suspected of killing people and harvesting their fat. A Police Commander in Peru said members of the group have stated that they killed people with the sole purpose of extracting their fat and selling it to brokers who use the fat in the production of cosmetics. Police showed reporters fat that the group had extracted and stored in soda and water bottles. The number of people believed to have been killed by the gang is unclear, but police are investing 60 disappearances in the area where the gang is active.

Prague, Czech Republic – A rare white tiger was killed at a Czech zoo by two lions that made their way into the tiger’s enclosure. The zoo has several large areas for animals which different animals are allowed to enter on different days. A spokesman for the zoo said the lions were trying to enter the area they had occupied the previous day and did so by opening a trap door.

Middletown, Pennsylvania – A small amount of radiation was found in a reactor building at the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in central Pennsylvania. Employees at the plant were sent home after the discovery on Saturday morning. Officials are checking employees who worked in the area, but say the incident poses no risk to public health. The plant hopes to resume activity on October 22. According to a report published by a division of the Department of Energy, exposure to radiation can mutate a person’s DNA, possibly causing cancer and heritable changes.
