New Zealand – In two different occurrences, over 120 beached whales have died on the coastlines of New Zealand. The large pilot whales were travelling on their annual route to their breeding grounds from the Arctic waters when two groups of whales became stranded in separate locations. Hundreds of vacationers and conservationists rushed to save the whales but were forced at one location to euthanize some whales. The dead whales at Colville Bay in northern New Zealand were buried, while the dead whales at Farewell Split in southern New Zealand were left on the beach to decompose.

Los Angeles, California – A picture that appears to show former president John F. Kennedy on a yacht with naked women is a fake. The photo was obtained by popular entertainment news agency TMZ, who said it had an “exclusive” photo that “could have altered world events.” TMZ said the photo was taken in the 1950s, before Kennedy’s presidency. The Smoking Gun, a website that collects public documents about crimes and celebrities, determined the photo was actually taken for “Playboy” in 1967. The man believed to be Kennedy was actually a paid model, according to the Smoking Gun.

Miami, Florida – Researchers Victor Stango and Christopher Knittel have determined that Tiger Woods’ sex scandal has collectively cost the shareholders of companies which he endorsed between $5 and $12 billion. The professors observed stock market returns for companies endorsed by Woods immediately after his November 27 car crash and compared those returns to companies that Woods did not endorse. Woods is estimated to have made around $100 million a year in endorsements before the incident.
