Celebrity Blog: Momsen insensitive to Haitian earthquake victims

Taylor Momsen, Gossip Girl star, claims that the Haitians are the last thing on her mind. While other famous stars are donating money to and helping Haiti, Momsen is standing on the sidelines.

Ever since Haiti was shattered by an earthquake, celebrities have been stepping up and using their influence to donate time and money to the disaster relief. However, Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen was not one of them.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, Momsen said that she is so busy working on her record and filming for Gossip Girl that she is “not so much thinking about” Haiti.
Seriously? Taylor, you are famous and on a hit television show where you get paid way more money than the average sixteen year old. Still, you can’t find the time to write a check for twenty dollars? You can’t even find the time to think about how devastated the people of Haiti must be?
I understand that not everyone can drop everything and organize an international telethon or even take one night to appear at one. However, there are kids in this country who are emptying their piggy banks to help the Haitian people.
Okay, maybe Momsen does not have any money. Maybe she spent it all on designer clothes. But keeping the people in Haiti in your thoughts and prayers requires little time or effort.
The least you could do is pretend to care about someone other than yourself. By the time you are sixteen, you should definitely realize that admitting to only caring about yourself does not make you look good.
In addition, Momsen is one of those young celebrities who tries her hardest to be taken seriously as an entertainer.
Maybe Momsen should take a step back and realize that there is a larger world that is not nearly as privileged as she is.
