Junior Sheena Patel glanced at her first quarter report card, only to find that less than half of the service hours she completed were recorded.

“I was frustrated and immediately went to see Mr. Martin and was like ‘What the heck,’” said Patel.

Patel’s report card showed only 49.5 out of the 100 hours she had completed.

Fine Arts and computer teacher Anne McMahon, who helped with recording the service hours for the first quarter, said that 828 report cards had to be rechecked.

“A simple thing caused the ripple effect that reflected a loss of hours, but within twenty four hours, they were immediately updated and made accurate,” said Outreach Director Tony Martin.

When questioned about the specifics of the incident, Martin deferred comment to McMahon.

According to McMahon, one of the last steps of updating service hours had a glitch in it. “When you click the update button, it sometimes does not work,” said McMahon.

“Right now, we are in the process of fixing the way the hours are streamlined into PowerSchool so it does not happen again,” said Martin.
